Due to personal struggles with addiction and the consequences of poor decisions, I was forced to resign—an experience that led to the unravelling of both my professional and personal life. Losing my position at Sasol, a company known for its values and respect for employees, remains one of my greatest regrets. Today, I am grateful to share that my life has taken a new direction through recovery and service. I am part of Sam’s Voice, a registered outpatient recovery and reintegration program based in KwaZulu-Natal. We work with individuals who are navigating the difficult path out of addiction and help them rebuild their lives with purpose and dignity. Our approach is holistic, structured, and deeply community-focused. Sam’s Voice has now developed a tailored outpatient support program specifically designed for companies like Sasol. The goal is to intervene before addiction leads to job loss, offering employees the tools and support to manage stress, trauma, and substance use in a safe and guided environment. This initiative can significantly reduce costs associated with staff turnover, including re-advertising, retraining, and long-term productivity loss—while also reinforcing Sasol's commitment to employee wellbeing. Tailored Corporate Recovery Support Services • Confidential outpatient support for employees battling addiction or mental health struggles. • Structured recovery programs with accountability, therapy, and reintegration plans. • Progress reporting (when consented) and reintegration support post-treatment. 2. Community & School Outreach • Anti-drug awareness campaigns and educational talks in schools across KwaZulu-Natal. • Support for vulnerable youth exposed to substance abuse and gangsterism. • Corporate-sponsored community upliftment projects under Sasol’s CSR profile. 3. Expansion Project – Secondary Facility We are currently raising funds to establish a second sober living home for clients who have completed our primary program and are working towards independent living. This facility will serve as a stepping stone, promoting long-term stability and continued accountability.
